10 Random Things

MIL made Grossy Pelosi pasta salad | 10 Random Things

Above: My MIL made Grossy Pelosi’s pasta salad over MDW and it was SO GOOD. (Tee is Abercrombie (on sale! Oversized fit!) and shorts are Lululemon! (My exact color is on sale for $39, but more colors fully stocked here!)

Something tells me I’m going to be doing more of these “random things” posts as my due date gets closer, because it’s getting MUCH HARDER to focus to write full on blog posts. ?(So hopefully you enjoy them!?) Here it goes: The first random, stream of consciousness things that come to me…ready…here we go!

10 Random Things

I got a new MacBook and let me tell you, the battery life is absolutely life changing.

It lasts literally ALL DAY. All day. Why did I wait this long to upgrade my old dying laptop!? If you’ve been putting off upgrading yours, wow, can’t tell you how glad I am that I finally bit the bullet.

This is the best lip balm ever

I don’t know if I’ve ever actually mentioned this anywhere, but in case I haven’t, I’m telling you now. I just re-upped and ordered three more since I’ll want it at the hospital and we’ll be spending a LOT of time inside with the AC on in the newborn weeks, which tends to dry out my lips!

Mango has REALLY cute dresses right now.

I kind of forgot about Mango, but Beth posted a dress from there the other day and I went down a summer dress rabbit hole. I ordered this dress and this dress and this dress plan to live in them postpartum.

Speaking of dresses, I am looking for a comfy, flowy one to wear home from the hospital (that makes me feel nice and put together and but also is really comfortable and ideal for wearing an adult diaper and sports bra underneath). The above dresses from Mango were actually ordered with this in mind, but I also ordered THE Target dress of the moment right now. (Let’s be honest, I have plenty in my current rotation that would work great for that too–I’ll keep you posted on what I end up bringing! Also fully realize that depending on the kind of experience I have, looking any sort of pulled-together might also just not be in the cards for me. I’m not attached to any outcomes, but want to prepare for different scenarios!)

Lots of people DMing me lately and asking “what’s that book you were talking about again that made you not so panicked about losing everything you like about your life when you have kids?”

So here it is again–Bringing Up Bebé. I read it three years ago and it was just a breath of fresh air to read an alternative perspective that goes against everything you see about American parenting and basically says, “your kids should revolve around your life, your life should not revolve around your kids” and yes, you should still have boundaries and date nights and you still get to go on vacation and ENJOY YOUR LIFE with kids. We need more of that attitude here in the states.

Speaking of French things, I’m obviously going to be taking a little pause from my French lessons when LR arrives, so I know my wonderful French tutor, Marie, will have an opening or two–if you’ve been wanting to take beginner or intermediate French lessons, she is so wonderful. DM me for her information! (She also teaches Arabic!)

I have been in a TOTAL reading rut for the past couple of months.

I don’t know what to attribute this to, but I’m not kidding, the last 6 books I’ve read I have felt “meh” about. Even though many of them are very popular right now! (I don’t know if I even want to tell you what they are because I don’t want to badmouth any books and I’m thinking maybe it’s just me?) however, I just finished reading The Proposal (my first Jasmine Guillory book!) and it’s the exact lighthearted read that I needed right now. If you’re looking for a summer read–I highly recommend!

I have been getting a lot of questions on stretch mark prevention.

TBH I don’t know how much of stretch marks are genetic (I think that’s a lot of it) but keeping skin hydrated is also key! I have been LOVING Ever Eden’s golden belly oil and stretch mark cream. If I had to choose one, the oil is my favorite. It doesn’t have fragrance, but it uses natural ingredients and smells SO good. It’s really hydrating and not greasy. (If you use both, apply the cream first, and then the oil!) You can also buy them in a set with a couple of their belly masks here! Would make such a nice gift for any mom-to-be!

My wonderful MIL surprised us with a big batch of Grossy Pelosi’s pasta salad in the fridge when we arrived at the lake house this past weekend and it was SO GOOD.

Definitely will become a Loftus family favorite! If you’ve been looking for a great pasta salad recipe, it’s classic and delicious and perfect for a crowd!

Song I’m obsessed with lately: Murder in the City by the Avett Brothers.

I hadn’t really gotten into them previously, but our friends Erin and Lucas played this song when we were over in their back yard and it is the sweetest song (if you listen to the lyrics). I just learned how to play it on the ukulele but I can’t get through singing it without crying. HORMONES WOW. But really, listen if you don’t know it yet. It’s so good.

I have my 37 week doctor’s appointment today!

Will continue to keep you posted on any LR news! Can’t believe she could technically decide to arrive anytime now! (I need to pack my hospital bag.)

(Okay, that was technically 11 things, so that’s all for now! Hope you have a great Tuesday!)
