Hi guys!
Hope you’re having a great week! It’s been a bit of whirlwind over here–writing this on the plane as we speak on the way home from Nantucket! (Did you see my Instagram stories? You should’ve SEEN the plane we took from Boston to Nantucket and back. ? It was literally a 9 seater tin can. Or as my new friend Caylin, who I met on our trip, described it– “a lawn mower with wings.”
Anyway, tin can aside, the trip was so much fun. It was a media trip with Cercone Brown, a PR agency I work with (and one of my absolute favorites!) They have a program called #CBCSummerHouse and essentially put up a group of bloggers and editors in a big house on Nantucket and partner with a bunch of brands to organize all of these really fun activities! I can’t wait to tell you more about it in my recap post soon! It was so cool to be part of and also really great to get to know a lot of these brands on a deeper level.
On another note-shifting gears here, I PROMISE I am also working on an Italy packing post. You know me-I tend to fly by the seat of my pants, so the reason I haven’t posted one yet is because, well, I don’t really pack until the last minute ? Plan on one coming up next week, though! (Fingers crossed I can pull it off in time–packing posts are VERY time consuming!)
Annnyway–today, I am sharing some cute little dresses that I got recently with Italy in mind. They’re all great for travel in their own different ways–who isn’t in the market for a great versatile dress that works well on lot’s of different trips?!
When I saw this dress on Shopbop, I knew it had to be mine. I absolutely LOVE red and polka dots. It’s part mini mouse, part 60’s mod–and I also wore a red polka dot top (stolen from my roommate Kate’s closet) on my first real date with Neal–so you could say red things with polka dots have a special place in both of our hearts!
The shape is super flattering, with a short hemline, a square neckline, thin straps, a cute cut-out tie detail in the back–the shape and linen material will keep you cool! To me, it strikes the perfect amount of sweet and sexy, while being practical at the same time.
I’m planning on wearing it in Italy with these flats I just got from Everlane and my favorite white sneakers (which I will inevitably photograph, obvi, stay tuned) so I thought for this post, I’d dress it up with my favorite pair of comfy heels to further show it’s versatility. This would be so cute to wear to any semi-dressy summer function–from a rehearsal dinner to bachelorette party!
Shop Five More Dresses I’m Taking to Italy:
Red and White Gingham Dress
This dress has a similar silhouette to my polka dot dress featured here, but gingham, and a corset-style top. I was a little leery of the bra-like top because it looks like it might be uncomfortable or too risqué but it really isn’t! I also love the bow details on the straps!
This cute dress is suitable for daytime exploring and night time dinners. Again, no risk of the skirt blowing up, so it’s ideal for everything from Chianti wine tasting to picnicking at Piazza Michelangelo.
Striped Square Neck Mini
I love this dress because the silhouette is so simple, the material is comfy, but the stripes are so bold yet classic at the same time. I’m planning to wear it around all day with sneakers in Italy. It’s great because there’s no risk of the skirt blowing up!
Sizing: Runs TTS, but size up if you want it on the looser side
Everlane Linen Box Tee Dress:
You guys see me wear this on Instagram stories ALL the time–it’s so comfortable, keeps you cool, and can be worn with virtually anything–on the plane, to the beach, to a casual dinner, or a day of European exploring–I love it! Comes in black and olive, too!
Sizing: oversized, so go down if you like your things a bit more form fitting.
Everlane Go-Weave Wrap Dress:
You saw me style it in this outfit post–of course, another Everlane piece! You know I love their items for so many reasons and this embodies all of them–versatile, high quality, practical, simple, yet beautiful. Like everything else on this list–you can wear it with heels, flats, sneakers, espadrilles–you name it! The fabric is also wrinkle resistant which makes it ideal for any trip!
Girly in Green:
I absolutely LOVE the color of this dress, and the silhouette is extremely flattering. It’s short enough to show some leg, but not TOO short. I wore it to a rehearsal dinner last weekend with the heels I’m wearing above and it was perfect! It would be ideal for a wedding weekend where there are lot’s of activities and you aren’t sure what to wear–or for a more low-key/non Vegas bachelorette party! ?
It would also look just as cute with flat sandals and sneakers for a day of exploring museums.
