Valentine’s Day Outfits
Sooo I’ve never been the most…AHEAD of schedule girl in the world. ????I know it probably would’ve been more helpful if you had these outfit ideas LAST week–but–better late than never, right? The good news: You probably have a LOT of similar items right in your closet you can use to copy these outfit formulas AND these aren’t just for Valentine’s Day, but outfits you’ll want to wear well into spring. ????
That being said, what are you doing for Valentine’s Day? Whatever plans you have in store, I think you’ll find an outfit here that will fit the bill! Let’s jump in!
To a concert:
Reformation Bodysuit from Nordstrom (wearing small!) // Everlane 90’s Cheeky Jeans (wearing my normal size, 25) // Everlane Snakeskin Booties (run TTS)
Who doesn’t love a good bodysuit when it comes time to get dressed to go out? It checks TWO (often mutually exclusive) boxes–it’s warm AND a little bit sexy! Therefore, they are a must in any cold climate girl’s wardrobe.
Tip: I don’t usually snap the crotch. ????Typically the tightness and length of the bodysuit is enough to keep it tucked in. (It’s not AS tight looking, but I’m cool with that.) It’s so much more comfortable that way!! I shared this tip on Instagram the other day and it prompted a LOT of discussion. ????
These snakeskin booties have become more of a go-to than I ever would’ve imagined. I originally thought they were too edgy for me, but I was wrong, and now I reach for them 90% of the time when I’m going out. They go with everything and bring so much more “cool” to any outfit!
This outfit is a perfect thing to wear to a concert, to a bar–any casual occasion!
To Cocktails:
Reformation Bodysuit from Nordstrom (wearing small!) // Sezane Leather Skirt (wearing size 4- so size up!) // Stuart Weitzman OTK Boots (run TTS!) // Sezane Purse (c/o)
Same bodysuit, totally different look! Here I’ve swapped jeans for this leather skirt! I have been trying to find the perfect leather skirt for YEARS–when I saw this one from Sezane, I knew I had found it! It’s the perfect length–not too short, not too long–and I like that it’s mid-rise vs. high rise, so it’s easier to get on! (Sometimes I have issues with skirts that are high waisted because of the waist-hip ratio!) For a real leather skirt, it’s also a really great price too!
One of my favorite combinations is a short skirt with OTK boots, because again––warm, because almost your whole leg is covered by a boot, but a little bit sexy, too! (Note: These are flat boots, which I think is what doesn’t make them look too over the top–if they were high heels they might look a little “lady of the night-ish” ????)
Sezane Gaspard Sweater (wearing a 2–I like that it’s slouchy but if I wanted it tighter I would’ve gone with a 0. I’d say their tops run TTS! I’m wearing the nude color.) // Sezane Leather Skirt (wearing size 4- so size up!) // Old, these tights are similar (and have great reviews!) // Everlane Snakeskin Booties (run TTS) // Sezane Purse
THIS SWEATER! This is my #1 most worn sweater the past couple of months, because it’s reversible–you can wear the buttons in the front or in the back–and it’s just SO pretty and feminine. It goes with everything–I love the super light pale pink. (You know I’m bringing this to Paris with me in the Spring. ????) If I were to pick ONE Sezane sweater for you to order, it would be this one. I just think you’ll have it for years to come. For a date night, I love pulling it a bit off the shoulder.
Art Museum:
Sezane Gaspard Sweater (wearing a 2–I like that it’s slouchy but if I wanted it tighter I would’ve gone with a 0. I’d say their tops run TTS!) // Sezane Leather Skirt (wearing size 4- so size up!) // Halogen Beret // Old, these tights are similar (and have great reviews!) // Old loafers, but love the Sam Edelman Lior Loafers! // Sezane Purse // Old scarf (love this similar look & this one!)
Same sweater and skirt, again, totally different look! Neal and I are going to the Art Institute on Friday and I plan to wear something along these lines. (Maybe I’ll wear this exact outfit, since it’s already planned now! ????) Just add a beret, some tights, and loafers, and you’re ready for any daytime date activity!
To your Valentine’s Work Party:
Sezane Gaspard Sweater (wearing a 2–I like that it’s slouchy but if I wanted it tighter I would’ve gone with a 0. I’d say their tops run TTS!) // Louis et Cie Red Pumps from Nordstrom (currently 30% off!) // Everlane Authentic Stretch Skinny Jeans (wearing ankle-length here and I’m 5’6!)
Not sure what to wear to casual Friday but still want to be festive? Copy this look! Simple, but classic! My favorite sweater, skinny jeans, and a pair of red pointed toe pumps or flats, and you’re good to go! This would also be the perfect thing to wear to a party at a friend’s house!
Dressy Dinner date:
Reformation Top (wearing small) // Louis et Cie Red Pumps from Nordstrom (currently 30% off!) // Everlane Authentic Stretch Skinny Jeans (wearing ankle-length here and I’m 5’6!)
Okay THIS TOP. I love it so much. It’s the best going out top! (I’m always on the hunt for something that feels like a “going out top” yet is still age-appropriate–AKA–won’t make me feel like I’m trying to impersonate my 22 year old self going to El Hefe on Friday night. ????Reformation is a really great brand for those kinds of outfits. ????) A pop of red makes it festive! (I’ve also worn it with skirts several times!)
Pre-date workday:
Everlane Top (wearing small) // Louis et Cie Red Pumps from Nordstrom (currently 30% off!) // Everlane Authentic Stretch Skinny Jeans (wearing ankle-length here and I’m 5’6! Run TTS–wearing 25) // Old cardigan, (this similar long cardigan is currently 50% off!)
Another outfit perfect for work, that transitions seamlessly from the office to dinner with just the swap of your sweater! I love a long sweater for work, especially if you’re wearing a form-fitting jean (the length will ensure you aren’t self-conscious about how tight they are. ????) Plus, again–WARMTH! This formula is so easy to copy with anything in your wardrobe––it would look really cute with a white tee, sweater, or blouse too!
Post-work date:
Everlane Top (wearing small) // Louis et Cie Red Pumps from Nordstrom (currently 30% off!) // Everlane Authentic Stretch Skinny Jeans (wearing ankle-length here and I’m 5’6! Run TTS–wearing 25) // Old, (extremely similar moto jacket that is 50% off!)
See!? Same exact outfit! Just leave your sweater on your office chair and throw a moto jacket over your shoulders, and you’re ready to hit the town! This look is super versatile and perfect for anything from drinks at your favorite casual bar, to dinner at the latest trendy restaurant, a concert, or a comedy show!
I hope this gave you some great inspiration for Valentine’s Day, or any other date night this season!
